DESCRIPTION:“My first Presentation covered using Simulation as a tool to
teach skills in Programming and Automation. The next Presentation in the s
eries will focus on how Simulation can be used in the classroom as to enha
nce lessons in Project and Project Management skills. The first class assi
gnment discussion begins by reviewing an actual physical prototype created
for one of the labs. This protype was then modeled as a Simulation to des
cribe and explore functionality and programming options. Students must tak
e this information to create Project Documentation detailed enough to get
professional firms to quote a working system. The second assignment has no
physical prototype\, only a basic simulation. The task is for the student
s to use what can be learned from the simulations to create a project spec
ification in order to propose a number of solutions to the customer. The e
nd result is to show how simulation can be used to enhance Project and Pro
ject Management discussions to a level typically not achievable by traditi
 onal methods.”\n\nWayne Shaefer\n\nSpeaker(s): Wayne Schaefer\, P.Eng.\,
