DESCRIPTION:The key objective of the orientation program was:\n\n-To make t
 he transition from school to university smooth for new students.\n\n-Enabl
 e them to get to know different societies under IEEE SB VIT Chennai and th
 eir student and faculty coordinators.\n\n-Expose them to ways of gainfully
  using their new found opportunities.\n\nThe orientation program for the n
 ewly admitted undergraduate students was organized on 24th July\, 2019.\n\
 nThe Chief Guest of the program Prasanth Mohan\, the founding Chair of IEE
 EXtreme Public Relation Committee addressed the newly joined students. In 
 his address to the freshers\, he emphasized on the importance of being par
 t of a club in college life. He explained the students about his journey t
 hrough IEEE from cluelessly getting his student membership to what he is n
 ow and about the many benefits of being a part of a society.\n\nA quick su
 mmary of the events organized in the academic year 2017-18 was presented b
 y the chair of the student branch\, Rakesh Acharya which was continued by 
 the student branch counsellor Dr.Vydeki.D . Refreshments were arranged for
  all the students who turned up for the session. All the societies were gi
 ven 10 minutes to present their report for the freshers to understand thei
 r area of work and culture. They also shared their event calendar for the 
 academic year.\n\nStudents who came up with doubts and queries were given 
 attractive IEEE goodies in order to make the session more interactive.\n\n
 Power electronics society was introduced by Prof.Sridevi . She gave a roug
 h idea about the plan for the academic year and her expectations from the 
 society’s members.\n\nParul\, Chair -Women in engineering VIT Chennai ma
 de the session more interesting by having small activities during her pres
 entation. She also shared her experience of attending a conference in Nepa
 l.\n\nThe faculty and the student coordinator of Robotics and automation s
 ociety Prof.Suchetha and Siva Shankar respectively briefed the students ab
 out the projects they have been working on and the activities and contests
  they have taken part in.\n\nStudents of signal processing society had a v
 ideo presentation of their research work and the conferences they have att
 ended so far.\n\nLast but not the least\, Computer societies work was pres
 ented by its general secretary Adithya Narayanan. He also explained the th
 ree projects they were working on bone conduction\, brain computer interfa
 ce and pizza vending machine.\n\nBefore winding up\, students were asked t
 o fill a google form stating which society they were willing to join in or
 der to get a rough count of interested students and the list was forwarded
  to the respective societies.\n\nThe intense and precisely-planned orienta
