DESCRIPTION:The IEEE ComSoc chapters in Europe and NA are pleased to bring
a Virtual Distinguished Lecture event on the topic of:\n\n“Cognitive App
roach to Building a Safe and Smart Cities/Societies”\n\nTime:\n\n9:00-10
:30 am Central Time\n\nLocation:\n\nZoom (Dial-in information will be prov
ided shortly)\n\nSPEAKER:\n\nFawzi Behmann\,\n\nPresident TelNet Managemen
t Consulting Inc.\n\nDL\, Director of IEEE Communications Society Region a
nd BoG Member\n\nAbstract\n\nLayers of smartness—using technology and da
ta—are being built into cities to make them safer\, more efficient and s
ustainable. Developed cities around the world are actively launching smart
solutions\, while new and emerging cities are integrating intelligent\, c
onnected systems from the start. The big cities of today may not be those
of tomorrow. The opportunities are immense—across infrastructure\, mobil
ity\, energy\, healthcare and beyond. Innovative technology applications a
nd their adoption in society offer a turning point. At its core\, the smar
t city is about people and improving the quality of our everyday lives. Th
e COVID-19 pandemic has revealed some of the shortcomings of major cities
in times of crisis.\n\nThe talk will cover the following areas:\n\nIntro:
Current state and challenges of Smart Cities\n\n- Disruptive technologies
enable building solid foundation for smart cities - highlights of current
and future of IoT\, 5G/6G\, Analytics (AI/ML/DP) across key markets\n- Key
examples – technology convergence & adoption in new use cases in key ve
rticals such as smart homes\, public safety\, autonomous driving\, healthc
are\, smart energy and others.\n- Covid-19 accelerate return to new norm w
ith greater innovation\, and end-to-end services\n\nConclusion: Adoption o
f disruptive technologies and acceleration to a new norm that will help tr
ansition to smart societies.\n\nKey Takeaways\n\n- Understanding the missi
on of smart cities and current situation of 50 worldwide top smart cities
and impact from Coronavirus Covid-19\n- Technology Features overview and r
oadmap of 4G/5G/6G\, IoT and AI\n- Sample use cases and power of virtualiz
ation and network slicing\n\nBIO:\n\nFawzi is a visionary\, thought leader
