DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, I present an overview of recent work in quantum
radar. First\, I briefly discuss one of the earliest and best-known propos
als for quantum radar\, namely quantum illumination radar. After discussin
g why it is not practical\, I introduce a more recent quantum radar propos
al\, known as quantum two-mode squeezing radar (QTMS radar). Unlike quantu
m illumination radar\, QTMS radar has the potential to support all the fun
ctionality of modern radars. Importantly\, a QTMS radar experiment has act
ually been performed\, so we know that such radars can at least be built i
n the lab. Finally\, I will discuss some advantages and drawbacks of QTMS
radars as well as possible future directions of research.\n\nSpeaker(s): M
