DESCRIPTION:Join the Northwest Subsection to learn about Ham Radio and its
place in the time of Cell phones and the Internet. Learn about the impact
Ham Radio has had on modern communications and how you can get licensed to
operate on the “Ham Bands”.\n\nBecause Ham Radio is such an important
part of emergency communications\, Northwest Subsection will be running a
Ham Radio Technician Class during January and February. This class is des
igned to prepare attendees to pass the technician class license. This clas
s is being run in conjunction with the Hamfesters Radio Club\, one of the
oldest Amateur Radio Clubs in the area. It has boasted people like Lee De
Forest and Marv Camras in its membership as well as numerous current IEEE
members.\n\nStarting with a discussion of what Ham radio is and is not on
January 6\, the class will begin in earnest on January 13 as the instructo
rs set the stage for the coming classes. This class is designed for not on
ly members\, but their spouses and children\, grandchildren\, nieces\, nep
