DESCRIPTION:Program for Tuesday\, February 2nd\, 2021:\n\n» 11:45 Webinar
open\n» 12:00 IEEE Southern Alberta announcements\n» 12:05 Presentation\
n» 12:45 Q&A\n» 13:00 Webinar close\n\nAbstract\n\nEnergy storage is bec
oming an important topic when combined with renewable energy\, especially
solar systems. While not necessary for most grid tie solar applications\,
battery storage for residential and small business is an area of increasin
g interest for consumers\, electricians\, electrical engineers and technol
ogists. Small grid considerations as well as instrumentation and control a
re areas that have unique issues when it comes to small scale energy stora
ge with battery storage implementations. Section 64 of the Canadian Electr
ical Code\, for example\, presents implementation challenges for some of t
he grid tied solar/storage systems which may operate at 300-1500 Volts DC.
After a Solar 101 introduction\, the speaker will go over examples of sol
ar storage technology available\nand a few implementation scenarios\, foll
owed by a question and answer period. This is an interactive webinar and w
elcomes comments from the audience throughout the talk.\n\n"Fine Print"\n\
n- The webinar is free for active IEEE members.\n- There is a $5 registrat
ion fee for people who are not active IEEE members.\n\n- The fee must be p
aid in advance through the registration process below (credit card through
PayPal) in order to receive the link to the webinar.\n- Upon successful p
ayment of the fee\, you will receive 2 emails: one from noreply_vtools@iee
e.org with title "IEEE vTools Reservation Confirmation\," and a second fro
m service@intl.paypal.com with title "Your payment to The Institute of Ele
ctrical and Electronics Engineers\, Inc." Both emails are required to ensu
re your payment was successfully processed.\n- Incomplete non-member regis
trations (payment not received) will be deleted.\n- A link to the WebEx re
gistration will be sent to the email address you provided during this vToo
ls registration\, on Feb 01\, by "IEEE Northern Alberta". Please double ch
eck the spelling of your email address when registering.\n- The mechanism
used to email the WebEx link requires you to accept the IEEE Privacy Polic
y and consent to receiving emails from IEEE. If you have not opted-in to r
eceive email communications from IEEE\, or have opted-out of email communi
cations from IEEE in the past\, you might not receive the email containing
the WebEx link. IEEE members can go to https://www.ieee.org/ieee-privacy
portal/app/ibp and ensure that "Local IEEE Communications" is checked unde
r the category Communication Preferences > Member Benefits. Former members
and non members who opted-out of email communications in the past can con
tact the [IEEE Support Center](https://supportcenter.ieee.org/) to find ou
t how to adjust their email communication preferences.\n- You will need to
complete the brief WebEx event registration prior to joining the webinar.
