DESCRIPTION:Program for Tuesday\, March 02nd\, 2021:\n\n» 11:45 Webinar op
en\n» 12:00 IEEE Southern Alberta announcements\n» 12:05 Presentation\n
» 12:45 Q&A\n» 13:00 Webinar close\n\nAbstract\n\nThe OpenADR Alliance w
as created to standardize\, automate\, and simplify Demand Response (DR) a
nd Distributed Energy Resources (DER) to enable utilities and aggregators
to cost-effectively manage growing energy demand & decentralized energy pr
oduction\, and customers to control their energy future. OpenADR is an ope
n\, highly secure\, and two-way information exchange model and Smart Grid
standard. This presentation will provide the audience with an introduction
to the OpenADR standard and how it enables secure communications between
control systems and the energy service providers.\n\nWe will walk through
the history and basic functionality of the protocol and then proceed to re
view different control strategies. The presentation will end with several
common use cases from industrial to residential controls and a Q&A.\n\n"Fi
ne Print"\n\n- The webinar is free for active IEEE members.\n- There is a
$10 registration fee for people who are not active IEEE members.\n\n- The
fee must be paid in advance through the registration process below (credit
card through PayPal) in order to receive the link to the webinar.\n- Upon
successful payment of the fee\, you will receive 2 emails: one from norep
ly_vtools@ieee.org with title "IEEE vTools Reservation Confirmation\," and
a second from service@intl.paypal.com with title "Your payment to The Ins
titute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers\, Inc." Both emails are req
uired to ensure your payment was successfully processed.\n- Incomplete non
-member registrations (payment not received) will be deleted.\n- A link to
the WebEx registration will be sent to the email address you provided dur
ing this vTools registration\, on March 01st\, by "IEEE Northern Alberta".
Please double check the spelling of your email address when registering.\
n- The mechanism used to email the WebEx link requires you to accept the I
EEE Privacy Policy and consent to receiving emails from IEEE. If you have
not opted-in to receive email communications from IEEE\, or have opted-out
of email communications from IEEE in the past\, you might not receive the
email containing the WebEx link. IEEE members can go to https://www.ieee
.org/ieee-privacyportal/app/ibp and ensure that "Local IEEE Communications
" is checked under the category Communication Preferences > Member Benefit
s. Former members and non members who opted-out of email communications in
the past can contact the [IEEE Support Center](https://supportcenter.ieee
.org/) to find out how to adjust their email communication preferences.\n-
You will need to complete the brief WebEx event registration prior to joi
ning the webinar.\n\nCo-sponsored by: OpenADR Alliance\n\nSpeaker(s): Rolf
