DESCRIPTION:Edge computing is a method of optimizing cloud computing system
 s by performing data processing at the edge of the network\, near the sour
 ce of the data. This reduces the communications bandwidth needed between s
 ensors and the central datacentre by performing analytics and knowledge ge
 neration at or near the source of the data. This approach requires leverag
 ing resources that may not be continuously connected to a network such as 
 laptops\, smartphones\, tablets and sensors.\n\nThe talk on Edge Computing
  and its Applications started off with the true meaning of Edge Computing.
  It is the Edge computing is a distributed computing paradigm that brings 
 computation and data storage closer to the location where it is needed\, t

  computing\, mobile edge computing\, cloudlet\, distributed data storage a
 nd retrieval\, autonomic self-healing networks\, remote cloud services\, a
 ugmented reality\, and more.\n\nIt is typically referred to in IoT use cas
 es\, where edge devices would collect data – sometimes massive amounts o
 f it – and send it all to a data centre or cloud for processing. Edge co
 mputing triages the data locally so some of it is processed locally\, redu
