DESCRIPTION:The talk discusses the blueprint of the 5G radio access network
(RAN)\, towards 2025 and beyond\, and sheds light on business and innovat
ion opportunities\, technological evolution\, performance and security ass
urance. Firstly\, the five characteristics of the target RAN 2025\, i.e. g
 igabit anywhere\, ultra-automation\, intelligent multi-cloud connection\,
differentiated experience\, environmental harmony\, are introduced. Then t
he evolution of the RAN architecture – implementation and disaggregation
aspects\, such as O-RAN\, Open RAN\, vRAN and classical configurations -
and supported features are presented. This is followed by examples of use
cases and deployment scenarios. Conclusions are drawn in terms of\, but no
 t limited to\, the following: efficiency\, performance\, reliability and c
 osts\; standards\; openness\; operation\, integration and management chall
enges\; environmental impact\; cyber security\; green and sustainable depl
oyment.\n\nCo-sponsored by: Dr Kumbesan Sandrasegaran\n\nSpeaker(s): Prof
