DESCRIPTION:Abstract:\n\nIn this talk\, we describe PANTHER (Persistent Aut
onomous Monitoring for Timely Detection of Wildfires)\, a low-cost\, large
-scale\, in-situ\, energy-efficient IoT system designed to be deployed in
remote areas to monitor environmental conditions conducive to wildfire ini
tiation and growth\, as well as support wildfire mitigation and preparedne
ss efforts. PANTHER consists of clusters of mini weather stations that col
 lect temperature\, humidity\, wind\, soil moisture\, and visual informatio
n about the surrounding environment and relay information through a wirele
ss network to data collection sites.\n\nSpeaker(s): Dr. Katia Obraczka\, A
