After working for IT consulting\ncompanies\, she decided to move to the U.S. and further her interests in\npower systems engineering. She finished her MS in Energy Systems from\nthe University of Washington in Se attle and went on to work with\nPacific Northwest National Laboratory\, a Dept. of Energy run National\nLaboratory. Her research interests included effective demand response\ntechniques to improve energy efficiency. She co mpleted her MBA from\nCornell University last summer where she was recogni zed both as an\n‘Environmental Finance and Impact Investing Fellow’ as well as\nan 'Emerging Markets Fellow’. Her interests now include the mo st cost\neffective methods of making technology accessible to the base of the\npyramid. She also works as a storage analyst in the Energy Storage\nB usiness Development Group at NextEra Energy Resources in Juno\nBeach\, Flo rida. Niru is also heavily involved with IEEE. She is\ncurrently the Ambas sador for IEEE Smart Village(previously IEEE\nCommunity Solutions Initiati ve (CSI)). She is also part of the IEEE\nGlobal SIGHT steering committee a nd IEEE USA’s Energy Policy Committee.\nShe also served on IEEE’s Huma nitarian Ad Hoc Committee whose primary\nresponsibility was to set directi on and policies for IEEE member\nengagement in Humanitarian activities.
