DESCRIPTION:IEEE PES Region 2 welcomes you to join this PES Day webinar pro
vided by Dr. Antonio Conejo\, a Professor of Integrated Systems Engineerin
g and Electrical & Computer Engineering departments at The Ohio State Univ
ersity. 1 PDH will be provided to attendees who will be tracked and proven
to be in attendance for this entire webinar.\n\nAbstract: This presentati
on reviews a number of real-world case studies of high integration of util
ity-scale weather-dependent renewable sources (wind- and solar-based power
units) in power systems. Such review allows extracting a number of releva
nt lessons for the future. We consider systems with high renewable integra
tion\, such as those of Spain and Texas\, and systems with high potential
of renewable integration\, such as that of Saudi Arabia. The roles of stor
age\, transmission enhancement (including DC links)\, and demand flexibili
ty are discussed. We analyze how to advantageously exploit the coupling wi
th synergistic systems\, such as natural-gas and water systems. Both econo
mic and energy-security issues are considered.\n\nCo-sponsored by: IEEE PE
S Region 2\n\nSpeaker(s): Dr. Antonio Conejo\, \n\nAgenda: \n11:55 AM - 12
