DESCRIPTION:On 29th June\, 2021\, IEEE BUBT Student Branch\, IEEE Biometric
s Council BUBT SB Chapter\, IEEE Nanotechnology Council BUBT SB Chapter\,
and IEEE BUBT Sensors Council BUBT SB Chapter arranged an event about "MEM
S and Microfluidics for Bio-applications".\n\nThe speaker of the event\, S
aakshi Dhanekar is an Assistant Professor\, Department of Electrical Engin
eering\, IIT Jodhpur\, by profession. She is also chairing an IEEE Sensors
chapter jointly with Delhi and Rajasthan. She has been awarded the IEEE Y
oung Professional Hall of Fame Award in 2019 in Montreal.\n\nThe main reas
on of the webinar is to introduce about the topic "MEMS and Microfluidics
for Bio-applications". It is a process technology used to create tiny inte
grated devices/systems that combine mechanical and electrical components w
hich has the potential to revolutionize both industrial and consumer produ
cts by combining silicon-based microelectronics with micromachining techno
logy. The speaker starts with the topic Micro-fabrication and what it is a
bout. Then she discussed the use and significance of silicon. She also des
cribed about the "CZOCHRALSKI method". Then she briefly explained about Bi
o-sensors and Bio-chips for detection\, Microorganisms\, importance of Bio
-MEMS\, Microfluidics and many more. The fact that more than 90 people pro
vided feedback on the webinar was a notable accomplishment. The webinar dr
ew a total of 120 participants\, with 15 of them being women. Participants
in this virtual webinar had the opportunity to learn about these topics b
riefly and why it is important for future aspects. And also get a chance t
o know about Microfluidics\, which has been an active research field and a
n indispensable tool for quantitative analyses of chemicals and biological
specimens for decades.\n\nThis seminar can be found on YouTube at: https:
