DESCRIPTION:The 3rd Summer School of Antennas\, Propagation\, and RFID Appl
 ications was organized by the Romanian IEEE AP-S/RFID Jt Chapter.\nThe Sum
 mer School was held at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca on Septembe
 r 21 - 23\, 2021.\n\nWelcome messages were given by Prof. Florin-Ioan Onig
 a\, Vice-Rector for research and digital infrastructure at the Technical U
 niversity of Cluj-Napoca\, Prof. Tudor Palade\, Head of the research cente
 r for radio communications\, Assoc. prof. Grigore Stamatescu\, Secretary o
 f the IEEE Romania Section\, and Prof. Razvan Tamas\, Chair of the IEEE Ro
 mania Section - Antennas and Propagation Society / CRFID Joint Chapter.\n\
 nThe topics of the first and third days included:\n- Antenna and radiowave
  propagation measurements\,\n- Massive MIMO structures for 5G applications
 \,\n- 3D television\,\n- Radiowave propagation through the atmosphere\,\n-
  Antenna optimization by using genetic algorithms\,\n- Radar image process
 ing\,\n- Radar cross section\,\n- Antenna theory\,\n- Wireless sensor netw
 orks\,\n- Radars for air surveillance\,\n- Radio surveillance of the space
  debris.\n\nThe second day of the event included a visit and a hands-on wo
 rkshop on satellite finding and tracking techniques at the Research and Tr
 aining Laboratory on Space Science and Technology at Marisel\, animated by
  Prof. Paul Dolea. An ad-hoc student competition was held\, aiming to test
  the abilities to use different types of coordinates. A satellite finder w
 as awarded to Mihai Hertz from Constanta Maritime University.\n\nTwenty-th
 ree students (undergraduate and postgraduate) from the main technical univ
 ersities in Romania attended the Summer School\, as well as five engineers
  from different companies.\n\nTwo prizes were awarded to the students\, co
 -sponsored by the IEEE AP-S\, the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca\, an
 d CDS - Control Data System Cluj-Napoca\, owned and led by an A&amp;P engineer
 \, Ovidiu Ratiu.\n\n- The &quot;Costin Miron&quot; prize was awarded to Stefan Vasil
 e.\n- The &quot;Lelia Festila&quot; prize was awarded to Ioana Lungu.\n\nAttendance
