DESCRIPTION:In the hope of appraising the overall effort of the executive c
ommittee and the volunteers of the IEEE\, RAS student chapter of the Unive
rsity of Peradeniya\, and to evaluate the performance of the enthusiastic
participants of the Robotrick’21\, a task was given to the registrants.
It was a simple task\, but with some constraints\, to test whether the new
ly approached young souls to the robotics field has grabbed the knowledge
provided by the eight webinars and the two workshops.\n\nThe awarding sess
ion was to award the winners of the mini-competition held and inspire the
newbies to achieve their dreams on the field. The keynote speech delivered
by Dr. Pantaleon Perera on the 23rd of October\, 2021\, at the Awarding C
eremony of Robotricks 2021/22\, left the participants to ponder. As he sha
red his thoughts on the industry’s current status quo while stressing th
at even though we may not have the resources to deliver the end product\,
we’ve got the potential to be the driving force behind a robot’s creat
ion. His ideas perfectly lined up with the vision of Robotricks 2021/22\,
which was to spread extensive and domain-specific knowledge on Robotics am
ong young aspiring robot enthusiasts around Sri Lanka.\n\nThe Robot Simula
tion task presented to the participants of Robotricks 2021/22 allowed them
to cement further the knowledge they had gathered. The participants were
presented with the task of building a simulation of a line following robot
from scratch on Webots. The submissions were then subjected to a rigorous
evaluation process by a panel of experts. Marks were awarded mainly focus
ing on the robustness of the algorithms used\, the feasibility of the phys
ical design\, and the number of sensors used to navigate through the track
 s. Robot UNICUS 1 was awarded as the most popular robot based on the Faceb
ook likes received. Robot Maywon by Rusiru Tharinda was awarded the fastes
t robot in the competition for expeditiously navigating the tracks with th
e least lap time. The awarding ceremony wouldn’t have been complete with
out awarding the participants who had toiled hard to eliminate loopholes i
n their algorithms while paying careful attention to the physical design a
s well. It was truly a tedious task for the panel of judges to sift the be
st of the best out of nearly 50 submissions received. Following the carefu
l scrutinizing of the Judges\, Robot Maywon by Rusiru Tharinda and Robot G
odspeed\, which was a combined effort of Vinura Wanniarachchi\, Kithuruwan
Prathapasinghe\, Limalka Sadith were able to finish as Joint Runners up w
hile Robot Detroit by Dinoj Supunsara bagged the Magicbit Development boar
