DESCRIPTION:Are you considering a career in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in
healthcare? This event will be a panel discussion with three successful A
I scientists who graduated from the Pittsburgh region.\n\nAI itself has gr
eat potential for the benefit of humanity. While AI is not a panacea for h
ealthcare problems\, utilizing patient and consumer data could lead to a p
recision model approach\, which can help with the diagnosis and prognosis
of the disease. We will discuss current innovations that our speakers are
a part of as well as discussing the strengths and limitations of AI in hea
lthcare. We will also discuss the future potential of AI and the knowledge
gap between academia and industry. Further\, we will discuss how Tech com
panies are promoting diversity and inclusion to improve AI as a field.\n\n
Arielle Fisher\, PhD\n\nDirector of Product\, Genospace\n\nArielle is pass
ionate about developing innovative technology to provide real-time decisio
n support to healthcare providers. As the Director of Product at Genospace
\, a subsidiary of Sarah Cannon Cancer Center and HCA Healthcare\, Arielle
has had the unique experience of building a precision medicine platform t
o provide highly specific therapeutic options. Her latest work includes ov
erseeing a COVID-19 registry with over 150\,000 inpatients for use in a re
search consortium established by HCA Healthcare and 11 academic institutio
ns. Prior to starting at Genospace\, she received her Ph.D. in Biomedical
Informatics from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and her B
.A. in Molecular Biology from Bucknell University.\n\nMichael Ding\, PhD\n
\nData Scientist\, LifeMine Therapeutics\n\nMichael is excited about the t
ransformative potential of data science in healthcare. His latest work foc
uses on bringing AI and machine learning to empower drug discovery from eu
karyotic microbes. Prior to joining LifeMine\, Michael co-founded a compan
y to develop machine learning solutions for precision medicine. Michael ho
lds an A.B. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Harvard University\, an
d a Ph.D. in Biomedical Informatics from the University of Pittsburgh Scho
ol of Medicine.\n\nGaurav Trivedi\, PhD\n\nAdvanced Innovation\, Philips H
ealthcare\n\nGaurav works with Advanced Innovation at Philips Healthcare.
He has a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence with applications in healthcare.
He works on solving problems and challenges during the design and develop
ment of intelligent HealthTech. Gaurav serves on the jury of WomenWhoTech\
, a program that awards grants for women-led startups on a rolling basis.
He is also the founder of the meditation club at the University of Pittsbu
rgh where he continues to serve as an independent advisor.\n\nCo-sponsored
 by: Engineering in Medicine and Biology\n\nAgenda: \nThis is a 1.5-hour p
anel Zoom event\, where the chair and vice-chair of Pittsburgh's Women in
Engineering affinity group (Pritika Dasgupta\, PhD and Sruthi Sivakumar) a
sk questions to the panel speakers. We will take questions from the audien
ce during the last 10-15 minutes.\n\nVirtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.o
