DESCRIPTION:Last year Congress passed a comprehensive energy bill aimed at
modernizing the electric grid\, providing funding for renewable energy res
earch and development\, addressing energy storage issues\, increasing acce
ss to new nuclear power sources\, recycling and reusing critical minerals\
, strengthening carbon capture capabilities and improving federal tech tra
nsfer and industry partnership programs. This talk will discuss this lates
t bill and provide an overview of IEEE-USA activities in energy policy. Of
particular interest to IEEE-USA's energy policy committee are issues rela
ting to the grid. Modernizing the grid will require improving both physica
l and cyber security as well as increasing access to renewable and nuclear
energy sources. Our guest\, Aline McNaull of IEEE-USA\, will provide an o
verview of how IEEE-USA works with Congress and the Administration to addr
ess these challenges.\n\nSpeaker(s): Aline McNaull\, \n\nVirtual: https://
