DESCRIPTION:The Open Data Cube is an open-source initiative for geospatial
data processing and analytics. Currently\, there are multiple regional dat
a cubes deployed across the globe for localized data analysis. The data cu
be indexes open satellite data that can be processed and compared with oth
er data from the same area to identify correlations between local data set
s and the environment there. The goal is the establishment of a global dat
acube with access to open data around the world so that anyone can use it
to conduct research or show trends over time from anywhere in the world. T
his presentation will give an introductory overview of the datacube and sh
owcase some earth analytic capabilities including water detection and ripa
rian buffer studies around the region of Virginia. It will also present th
e outcome of earth observations of TSM and NVDI in other global regions\,
such as Peru.\n\nLight refreshments will be provided.\n\nSpeaker(s): Jessi
