DESCRIPTION:Robotics is a lab-based course that uses a hands-on approach to
introduce the basic concepts of robotics\, focusing on the construction a
nd programming of autonomous mobile robots. Course information will be tie
d to lab experiments\; students will work in groups to build and test incr
easingly more complex mobile robots\, culminating in a robot contest. We w
ill be using VEX Robotic Design System as our platform. Students will be d
ivided into groups and complete a variety of robot construction and progra
mming activities within the confines of these groups.\n\nAdvancing science
\, technology\, engineering and mathmematics ( STEM ) the Computer Chapter
of the Syracuse IEEE Section is working with students in grades 6\, 7 & 8
at Expeditionary Learning Middle School (ELMS) Middle School Syracuse Cit
y School District in Syracuse\, NY.\n\nSTEM classes will be centered on th
e VEX IQ Challenge presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Found
ation. This class is designed to inspire students to develop a lifelong pa
ssion for learning and an interest in pursuing educational and career oppo
rtunities in STEM fields.\n\nMission of The Robotics Education & Competiti
on Foundation’s is to increase student interest and involvement in STEM
by engaging students in hands-on\, affordable\, and sustainable robotics e
ngineering programs.\n\nCo-sponsored by: Redhouse Education\n\n157 Fellows
