DESCRIPTION:SDIEEE EXCOM Meeting\n\nExecutive Committee meeting to discuss
upcoming San Diego IEEE activities.\n\nAll IEEE members welcome to attend.
 Please RSVP.\n\n5:30 pm - 6:00 pm\, Networking and food\n\n6:00 pm - 7:30
pm\, meeting (in person and remote)\n\nAgenda:\n\nApprove prior meeting m
inutes - included in this event as an upload.\n\nStudent branch reports\n\
nSection Officers Reports\n\nOld and New business\n\nSupporting Electronic
s Outreach and Education at Canyon Crest Academy\nAlvin Loke\n\nThe "big c
hapter recently" secured an additional $1\,400 from SSCS for pre-college e
ngagement and activities (already received $1\,000 in usual annual subsidi
es for 2022). Pre-college is something I really want to push for in my lim
ited capacity as SSCS Chapters Chair\, and I hope to secure and allocate e
ven more funding towards such activities going forward. It's the best way
to get kids into EE and seems like the obvious solution to building much n
eeded diversity (gender\, geography\, ethnicity\, etc.) in our field.\n\nA
s such\, I have asked Tony to provide a wish list of things we can provide
to him and support his cause at CCA. Here's what he gave me:\n$500 schola
rship. Female. I already have a senior in mind for this who also is pursui
ng EE!\n$500 scholarship. Male.\nSpectrum analyzer to support audio units
in electronics classes - The spectrum analyzers on Amazon ~ $1300. However
\, I looked up used ones thinking I could probably find an old Agilent 859
1A around - and there are some! link These are much more reasonably priced
(~$600).\n$500. NXP Racer. If IEEE can fund the first one\, we could use
the coupon you secured for another two free ones which would be a good opt
ion for setting up an enrichment program and getting a few teams together.
\nHow can we go about tapping into the San Diego Section funds to provide
the above items for Tony? The year is coming to a close and I'd like to ge
t as much funding as possible.\n\nLet me know if it's easier for me to com
mute to your front door and chat briefly in person. :-)\n\nBy the way\, I
recently gave the attached lecture to Tony's class on November 10. (see ou
treach PDF in the media section of this event)\n\nThanks\,\nAlvin Loke\n\n
Addressing some Adjustments for Rising Stars Funding for SDSU\n\nDouglass
