DESCRIPTION:Please join IEEE Iowa-Illinois Section and IEEE Iowa-Illinois C
omputer Society hosted virtual presentation and virtual dinner on Wednesda
y\, April 20\, 2022\, at 5:30 pm.\n\nCyberspace has been very much part of
our well-being. For the most part\, cyberspace\, with its endless opportu
nities\, has a very positive effect on people's lives. Cybersecurity deals
with protection of data such as Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
\, Protected Health Information (PHI)\, intellectual property\, industry a
nd government information from unauthorized disclosure and accidental dest
ruction. With increased global connectivity\, use of cloud services\, and
widespread deployment of Internet of Things (IoT)\, the risk of potentiall
y successful cyber attacks is ever increasing. Small businesses are also a
t greater risk of cybercrimes.\n\nIn this presentation\, we review some of
the significant risks faced in cyberspace as exemplified by real-life sto
ries and provide a few viewpoints on making cybersecurity a priority for e
veryone.\n\nThe presentation will be followed by open discussions and a vi
rtual dinner.\n\n(IEEE membership is not required to attend the event.)\n\
