DESCRIPTION:The IEEE Electron Devices Society Rochester Chapter proudly pre
sents Ken Parulski of aKAP Innovation.\n\nThis talk describes key imaging
technologies developed by Kodak which are widely used in today’s digital
photography systems\, and some of Kodak’s pioneering consumer and profe
ssional digital cameras. Kodak invented integral color image sensors and s
ingle-chip color cameras now used in products ranging from smartphones to
digital cinema cameras. Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) developed by
Kodak are now used in a wide range of color displays. Kodak also created
the world’s first megapixel D-SLR camera in 1987\, the first consumer me
gapixel camera in 1997\, and the first consumer dual-lens digital camera i
n 2006. In addition\, Kodak made major contributions to industry standards
\, including JPEG compression\, image formats and metadata\, and the metho
ds used to measure resolution\, noise\, and image quality in today’s dig
ital photography systems.\n\nKen Parulski is an expert consultant to major
mobile imaging companies in the US\, Europe\, and Asia\, and leads the de
velopment of ISO standards for digital photography. He joined Kodak Resear
ch Labs in 1980 after receiving bachelor's and master’s degrees in elect
rical engineering from MIT. He retired in 2012 as Research Fellow and Chie
f Scientist in Kodak's digital photography division. His work has been rec
ognized with a Technical Emmy and other major awards. Ken is an SMPTE Fell
ow\, a Senior Member of IEEE\, and an inventor on 230 U.S. patents.\n\nSpe
