 The Nyack High School Mock Trial Team has once again made it to the Rockla
 nd County championship round. It will be this coming Monday\, April 4th at
  5:30 p.m. The trial will be held virtually in front of Rockland County Su
 preme Court Judge\, Hon. Paul Marx. The link to the Zoom Courtroom appears
  below.\n\nThe case\, People Vs. Shawn Miller\, concerns charges that Mill
 er conspired with others to set up a classic Ponzi scheme and then swindle
 d investors in his hedge fund out of millions of dollars. In the champions
 hip round\, Nyack will be defending Shawn Miller. It&#39;s a complicated probl
 em and required students to learn some sophisticated concepts in both the 
 law and the securities industry. Students have been honing their trial ski
 lls since October this year and have been learning to conduct a trial on t
 his problem since December. They have put in almost 200 hours of time lear
 ning and practicing. They&#39;ve learned about our legal system\, legal concep
 ts\, the rules of evidence\, ethical behavior\, courtroom decorum\, logica
 l thinking\, how to argue effectively and how to &quot;think on their feet.&quot; I 
 know the entire coaching staff\; Mr. Steve Nardi and Mr. Patrick Gavigan o
 f the social studies department and assistant attorney advisor\, Giulia Pa
 lermo\, Esq.\, join me when I say that win or lose on Monday\, I&#39;m very pr
