DESCRIPTION:May 16th marks the International Day of Light\, which highlight
s the central role played by light in our daily lives. It is a celebration
of the enabling nature of photonics\, and the many ways in which light-ba
sed technologies are making way for a better future. The same can be said
about the scientific experts behind those technologies: they also can enab
le change in many different ways\, whether behind or beyond the lab. In th
is talk\, I will share my pivoting story and how I found I could best leve
rage my technical expertise & skillset in my new role at Optonique. When i
t comes to optics & photonics\, Optonique is uniquely positioned to suppor
t industry\, communicate with government\, and build bridges with academia
. Join us to learn & discuss about Optonique’s mission\, and let’s cel
ebrate together the ways in which the photonics community is changing the
world!\n\nSpeaker(s): Dr. Madison Rilling (elle | she/her)\, \n\nRoom: MC6
