DESCRIPTION:IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) and IEEE Young Professionals (Y
 P) Miami Section Affinity Groups are going to host a Technical Event title
d “Nanotechnology Contemporaries” on May 18th at 3.00 PM (EST). We are
delighted to have Dr. Daniala Radu as our speaker. She is an Associate Pr
ofessor in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Flori
da International University (FIU). Her background covers a broad range of
disciplines\, and she is combining materials science with chemistry and na
notechnology to synthesize novel materials with properties that enable the
ir application in renewable energy. Radu holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from I
owa State University and has further completed a three-year postdoctoral f
ellowship at Scripps California. Prior to her academic appointments she ha
s been a senior scientist at DuPont where she developed a novel technology
for thin-film PV using earth abundant materials. Dr. Radu authored over t
hirty journal articles\, more than 30 conference presentations\, and has f
ive granted patents. Her research is funded by NASA\, DoD\, NSF\, and USDA
