DESCRIPTION:You are invited to attend the Roger Williams University Compute
r Science Senior Design Team presentations of their year-long capstone pro
ject status. Presentations will begin at 2:15 and each is about 25-30 minu
tes in length. The order of presentations is listed below (times are appro
ximate) and a Zoom link is provided for remote access.\n\n2:20 Air Quality
Visualization: In this project\, the student team will explore use of pub
licly available data to visualize air quality in southern New England as n
ear as real time as possible. This will require extraction of data from on
-line sources\, interpolation between air quality monitoring sites\, and d
isplay of the results. If possible\, displays also will include informatio
n such as major air quality emission sources (industry\, highways) and oth
er relevant information. The results potentially will aid in the design of
an improved air quality monitoring network in southern New England.\n\n2:
45 Motion Fusion (phase 3): Develop an interactive presentation based on u
sing 3D cameras and construction project development software. This projec
t is a continuation of a project begun in two years ago. Work continues on
developing 3D visualizations of building/construction projects without th
e need for VR headsets.\n\n3:10 Drive (phase 2): A proof of concept in det
ermining if it is possible to remotely access and direct where a smart pho
ne camera should be pointing.\n\n3:35 Air Sensor Monitoring Law Building:
The students will use machine learning for predicting temperature and humi
dity in a given building. Live data is still being collected and the histo
ric data is available for the past year. The live and historic data can be
accessed through an API. The students will use the historic data for crea
ting a prediction model. The team will also design and develop a mobile ap
p for the presentation of the data and analytics. This is anticipated as a
multi-year effort.\n\n4:00 Combining Unity and Revit: The goal is to look
at the Unity simulation software and combine it with Revit construction d
esign software. The goal is to take the design features of Revit\, combine
them with the simulation features of Unity to give the user the ability t
o visualize constructions efforts beyond the 3D capabilities of either sof
tware package on their own\n\n4:25 Whereabouts (phase 2): A game linking G
PS\, photographs\, and paper maps to develop map reading skills and travel
entertainment. The first year developed some processes which can be reuse
 d. Gamification of the system and subsequent use as an answer to the age-o
ld question “are we there yet?” It can also be used as a training aid
in correlating maps\, GPS\, and pictures for outdoor enthusiasts.\n\nTopic
