DESCRIPTION:Speaker: PES Distinguished Lecturer Dr. Babak Enayati\, Nationa
 l Grid\n\nPresentation title: IEE E 1547 standard and Distributed Energy R
esources (DERs) interconnections\n\nAbstract: Due to the increasing amount
of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) interconnections with the Electric
Power System\, the IEEE 1547 standard is going through a major revision t
o address some of the technical issues associated with high penetration of
DERs i. e. grid support functionalities\, etc. The attendees of this pres
entation will learn about the major changes to the IEEE 1547 i. e. voltage
regulation\, response to abnormal system conditions (including voltage an
 d frequency ride through)\, power quality\, islanding\, interoperability\,
etc. The participants will also learn about the utility concerns/solution
s to adopt the revised IEEE 1547 standard.\n\nMeeting location: Bonner Hal
l room 414\, University at Buffalo North Campus\, Amherst NY 14228\n\nBaba
k Enayati received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson Univers
ity\, USA in 2009. He joined National Grid\, USA in 2009 and is currently
the Manager of the New Technology team\, which is responsible for the impl
ementation of the new technologies to meet National Grid’s Intelligent E
lectric Network objective to deliver clean and affordable energy to its cu
stomers. Since Babak joined National Grid\, he has held engineering positi
ons in the Protection Engineering\, Retail Connections Engineering\, and N
ew Energy Solutions departments. He joined Institute of Electrical and Ele
ctronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2006 and currently is a Senior IEEE Member. B
abak currently serves as the Vice President of Education on the IEEE Power
and Energy Society (PES) Governing Board. He is the current chair of the
IEEE PES Transmission Subcommittee. Babak serves as the Vice Chair of the
IEEE Std 1547 Standard for Interconnecting Distributed Energy Resources wi
th Electric Power Systems\, and IEEE P2800- Standard for Interconnection a
nd Interoperability of Inverter-Based Resources Interconnecting with Assoc
iated Transmission Electric Power Systems. Babak is a registered Professio
nal Engineer in the state of Massachusetts.\n\nRoom: 414\, Bonner Hall\, U
