DESCRIPTION:SusTech talks are monthly\, leading to SusTech in April 2023.\n
\nESG and SDG have evolved into a confusing set of measures and reporting
standards. What exists today are competing standards for sustainability re
porting. There are numerous definitions\, scorecards\, and "sustainability
" experts offering the right pathway to reaching the sustainability goals.
IEEE is supporting further development of Recommended Practices that will
build on the existing P7010-2020 Standards and move forward a Roadmap to
understanding and developing Action Plans that will RESULT in achieving th
e ESG/SDG goals\, supporting ongoing innovation\, and advancing the organi
zation to meet the new challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution.\n\nThi
s session will present the assessment of current progress in meeting the S
ustainability goals. It will go further and report on the critical assessm
ent that is identifying the barriers to progress and provide a better unde
rstanding of the multi-industry efforts needed to successfully transition
to REAL SUSTAINABILITY. It will present proposed strategies based on the e
xcellent work of IEEE's Sustainability Committee\, under the direction of
Rudi Schubert\, and in defining the new Corporate Social Responsibility to
advance humanity through technology.\n\nThe United Nations created the Su
stainable Development Goals (SDG's) that cover the wide scope of 17 catego
ries of areas of interest\, climate\, health\, education\, poverty\, indus
try\, etc.\, This is what created the bridge from an aspirational climate
change goals with the broader business interest. Now I will answer the ESG
 - Environmental\, Social\, Governmental goals. This is the broader impact
the business has in building sustainable communities. This is the core fr
om which public companies have been compelled to include in annual Corpora
te Reports\, by investors\, disclosure on potential environmental and fina
ncial risks from these factors. That created the multiple disclosure stand
ards and reporting metrics.\n\nAgenda: \nTalk will start at 6 PM Pacific T
