DESCRIPTION:2023 IEEE Rising Stars Conference team presents\n\nTHE RED DWAR
F STARS SERIES\n\nSRP Perspectives on Utility Scale Energy Storage Technol
ogies\n\nChico Hunter\n\nRed Dwarf stars are the smallest and emerging in
the universe. The Red Dwarf events represent the formation and growth of o
ur IEEE Rising Stars Conference. The 2023 IEEE Rising Stars Conference tea
m will be hosting a series of monthly events to show you a glimpse of what
we are preparing for the conference. We'll be sharing some professional d
evelopment and technical content throughout this series\, as well as some
of the networking experience.\n\nJoin us on a series of informative and en
gaging events as we prepare for our large stage at the 2023 IEEE Rising St
ars Conference\, January 3-5\, in Las Vegas at the Tropicana Hotel.\n\nVis
it our website at: https://ieee-risingstars.org/\n\nChico Hunter\, Manager
of SRP Research and Development\, Presentation Description:\n\nToday the
electric sector has begun deploying utility scale li-ion batteries for ene
rgy at short durations\, typically 4 hours or less\, to help integrate var
iable renewable energy resources like wind and solar into the grid. Chico
Hunter from SRP’s Innovation and Development department will cover this
topic and share information on a variety of emerging non-battery storage t
echnologies they are investigating for longer duration storage\, in the 8-
12 hour range\, that might compete with li-ion batteries in the coming yea
rs.\n\nSpeaker(s): Chico Hunter\, \n\nVirtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.
