DESCRIPTION:Solar photovoltaics generation is one of the fastest-growing re
newable energy in India. Gujarat is one of the leaders in installing solar
photovoltaic (PV) in both root top category and independent solar parks c
onnected to high voltage systems. There is around 4500 MW bulk installed c
apacity and around 1000 MW installed capacity for the rooftop. Also\, ther
e is a big potential for adding to this capacity in near future. All grid-
connected solar PVs are connected to the power network at either a high vo
ltage network or a domestic supply network in the case of rooftops. This c
onnection is achieved using inverters. With the increase in solar PV contr
ibution to the grid\, there is a need for a better understanding of the ch
aracteristics of the generation to make the best use of\nthe potential. Wi
th this in mind\, IEEE Gujarat Section and ERDA have arranged a workshop t
 o bring experts\, developers\, transmission utilities\, distribution utili
ties and academics together to explore opportunities and challenges in ado
pting solar PV generation.\n\nCo-sponsored by: Electrical Research and Dev
