DESCRIPTION:Frequency-selective surfaces (FSSs) are arrays of periodic stru
ctures\, providing filtering properties of the incident electromagnetic wa
ves. FSSs have been intensely studied in the last five decades for their w
ide applications from microwave to terahertz frequencies. FSSs have been a
pplied in antenna radomes\, reconfigurable antennas\, polarization convert
ers\, intelligent walls\, radar cross-section reduction\, etc. In this tal
k\, we will introduce the fundamental concepts of FSSs and present the bas
ic principles governing the operation of this type of structures\, and met
hods of analysis. Practical examples will be finally provided to demonstra
te the performance of the designed FSSs with simulation and measurement re
sults.\n\nCo-sponsored by: SBC05141B - Federal Univ Of Campina Grande\, AP
