DESCRIPTION:Second generation of Fiber To The Home and expected evolutions:
an operator point of view\n\nDr. Philippe Chanclou\, Manager of Fixed Acc
ess Networks\, Orange Labs\, France\n\nAbout the Talk\n\nPassive Optical N
etwork (PON) is now a mature technology to serve Fiber To The Home (FTTH).
This technical and market maturity (copper replacement) for G-PON (Gigabi
t-capable PON) is now followed by a second generation with more line rate
(10 Gigabit/s) and more software functions with interfaces and engines mod
ern management. In parallel with this generation evolution\, the PON matur
ity makes it possible to enhance the capabilities of optical fiber for oth
er network segments such as Fiber To The Campus or Fiber To The Room. And
of course\, we must also enlighten the third generation to ensure the sust
ainability of the investment in fiber optic infrastructure.\n\nAbout the S

pe Chanclou received D. and Habilitation degrees from Rennes University\,
France in 1999 and 2007 respectively. He joined the R&D facilities of Fran
ce Telecom in 1996. In 2000\, he joined the University of ENST-Bretagne (n
ow IMT Atlantique) as a senior lecturer. During 2001 to 2003\, he has part
icipated to the foundation of Optogone Company. Since 2004\, he joined Ora
nge Labs where he is now manager of Fixed Access Networks team. This team
is active about delivery\, standardization and research concerning FTTx to
pics for Home\, Enterprise\, and Antenna (including backhaul\, midhaul\, f
ronthaul). This team drives international standards of G-PON\, 10G-PON\, N
G-PON2\, and 50G-PON. His work explores optical system applications in wir
eless transport networks and access system power saving. Dr. Chanclou is a
n IEEE senior member. He received the SPIE Rudolf Kingslake Medal and Priz
