As a result\, Fog and Mist co mputing have emerged as new computing paradigms to solve the problem of tr ansmission latency by placing computations in the vicinity of the IoT laye r. Typically\, IoT applications are time-critical and the primary concern is meeting their deadlines. Consequently\, the utilization of appropriate resource allocation and scheduling strategies for real-time applications i n multi-tier environments is of paramount importance. In this keynote we w ill discuss research directions driving the development of these new compu ting models.
