DESCRIPTION:1601 North Quincy Street\nGreen Bay\, WI 54302\n\nGreen Bay Pac
kaging has built one of the most modern packaging paper mills in the world
\, starting successful production in March 2021.\n\nThe facility located n
ear the headquarters of the family-owned company in Green Bay\, Wisconsin\
, is a groundbreaking project in several respects. The testliner machine i
s the first new paper mill built in Wisconsin in over 35 years\, creating
numerous new jobs in the Lake Michigan region.\n\nThe centerpiece of the f
acility is the new paper machine with a wire width of 331" (8\,400 mm) and
a design speed of 3\,937 fpm (1\,200 m/min). The new mill will produce te
stliner at basis weights between 18 and 56 lbs/1000ft2 (88 and 273 g/m2).
The testliner machine will produce 685\,000 short tons (621\,422 metric to
ns) per year enabling Green Bay Packaging to more than double its producti
on capacity at the Green Bay facility.\n\nEnvironmetal sustainability is a
key principal at the Green Bay Mill. Green Bay Packaging was one of the f
irst to be recognized as a Green Masters company at the Wisconsin Sustaina
ble Business Council Annual Conference\, a first for a corrugated box comp
any. Green Bay Packaging regenerates corrugated shipping containers using
recycled post-consumer material. They replaced coal-fired boilers with nat
ural gas for steam production. The new effluent treatment system provides
for complete recycling of process water and zero discharge to the Fox Rive
r.\n\nThis is an industrial environment. Closed toe shoes are required. Ha
rd hats and safety glasses will be provided\, but you may wear your own pe
rsonal protective gear if you prefer.\n\nFollowing the tour\, we will gath
er for dinner at\nSt. Brendan's Inn\n234 S. Washington St.\nGreen Bay\, WI
54301\n\nDinner cost is $15. There will be no charge for IEEE Student Mem
bers attending dinner.\n\nAgenda: \n4:00 pm CDT Tour Green Bay Packaging M
