DESCRIPTION:An event of the IEEE ITSS German Chapter\n\nEveryone is cordial
ly invited to our activities\, if you are interested\, please contact our
Chapter Officers\n\nLeveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow\n\nIEEE Da
y celebrates the first time in history when engineers worldwide gathered t
o share their technical ideas in 1884.\n\nMeet colleagues and get up to da
te with technology and research within the ITS field\n\nTalk Abstract:\n\n
It is important to note when it comes to the sonic description of movement
in space that our auditory system is more extensively equipped than our v
isual system. For example\, our ears enable us to locate sounds from diffe
rent directions at any time and regardless of which direction we are looki
ng. In doing so\, pitches\, volumes\, and a wide variety of sound qualitie
s are assigned meaning that help us to react appropriately to our environm
ent in a given situation. A roaring lion\, a sudden very loud clap of thun
der\, the soft rattle of a rattlesnake will alert and elevate us in second
s\, while the soft rustling of leaves or the bubbling of a river have a ca
lming and decelerating effect.\n\nCo-sponsored by: German International Un
iversity in Berlin (GIU Berlin)\n\nSpeaker(s): Mike von der Nahmer\, \n\nA
