DESCRIPTION:Today we are at the beginning of the 4th industrial revolution
in which Photonics in general and Optical Communication technologies\, in
particular\, are the key enablers. They offer India unlimited opportunitie
s to contribute and benefit\, driving her green- economic growth towards
the US $ 5 Trillion goal by 2024. Photonics is everywhere around us. New p
hotonics technologies\, products\, and applications continue to emerge cov
ering fiber optics communication & sensing\, ultra-broadband access netwo
rks\, information technology\, lighting\, display\, imaging\, photovoltaic
s\, optical components\, defense and security\, healthcare\, food preserva
tion\, and production /manufacturing technologies. All emerging technologi
es such as IoT\, artificial intelligence\, virtual reality\, machine lear
ning\, smart X (X= states\, cities\, villages\, communities\, and homes)\,
data centers\, vehicular communications\, and cloud computing rely on pho
tonics in one form or the other. This talk will discuss Photonics in gener
al and optical communication networks in particular.\n\nCo-sponsored by: C
