DESCRIPTION:This talk will examine in detail the new optics landscape for d
atacom and telecom space. The optics industry is at a crossroad driven by
the post pandemic huge BW demand at lower cost/power optics from hyperscal
e data centers for networking and AL/ML applications. The debate on plugga
ble vs co-packaged optics (CPO) will likely continue to be hot topics in t
he next few years.\n\nWe will discuss how data center operators view the f
uture path of photonics integration with switch electronics and their pref
erred technology choices and timelines. This will impact on how to revolut
ionize today’s pluggable optics industry with regards to applications\,
profitability\, ecosystems\, supply chain as well as uncertainties in the
technology.\n\nIn telecom space\, as global operators accelerate the deplo
yment of 5G networks and beyond\, promote the differentiated application o
 f 5G multi-services\, and release more spectrum resources\, the industry i
s pushing higher bandwidth requirements for high performance fronthaul\, m
idhaul and backhaul optics. Several optical transceiver products are now t
argeted specifically for this high-volume market.\n\nThis presentation wil
l focus on latest advances in optical wireless deployment scenarios (e.g.
50G vs 100G Bidi for up to 40km and leveraging 100G and 400G PAM4 based cl
ient optics). We will discuss the synergies and differences between today
’s mobile transport and future optical 6G networks.\n\nSpeaker(s): Dr. F
