It is generally done separately for a Generati on System\, an Interconnected Multi-Area System\, a Composite Power System or a Distribution System. There are Analytical Methods available for carr ying out these exercises. In addition parallelly Monte Carlo Simulation Me thods have also been developed for all these System Studies. They essentia lly use Random Sampling Statistical Probability Distribution Tools for the assessment. The Objective of this webinar is to present an Overview of th e Monte Carlo Simulation Methods\, starting from the basic Random Sampling Approaches used for generating the up-down cycles of the various componen ts of the system using relevant long term failure rate\, repair rate and t heir durations data of the components\, subsystems and the load data of th e system and the methodologies used in solving the Reliability Indices Eva luation Problem for all these systems.\n\n********\n\n******************** **\nBrief Profile of the Invited Speaker:\n\n*************************\n\n Dr. R. Balasubramanian obtained his Ph.D. degree from IIT Kanpur. After se rving in B.H.E.L. Projects Engineering Division\, New Delhi during 1975-79 \, he joined IIT Delhi in the Centre for Energy Studies\, where he occupie d various positions and retired as a Senior Professor in 2012.He served as NTPC Chair Professor (Elect. Engg.) at IIT Delhi for over 10 years.\nHe h as executed successfully some major consultancy/sponsored research project s for organizations such as NTPC (R&D)\, BHEL\, Easun Reyrolles\, Siemens\ , Wartsila\, World Bank\, MNRES and CBI &P.\nHe has guided 20 Ph.D. Theses at IIT Delhi and published over 150 research papers in various Internatio nal Journals & Conferences of repute.\nHe served as the Chair of the IEEE Delhi Section during the years 2000 & 2001.
