DESCRIPTION:A Webinar on "Cyber Security issues in multi cloud environment
and its protection" on 12th Nov 2022 at 6:30 PM onwards in association wit
h SAC\, LMAG\, CS\, CIS/GRSS Jt Chapter.\n\nAbstract:\n\nCloud security is
a discipline of cyber security dedicated to securing cloud computing syst
ems. This includes keeping data private and safe across online-based infra
structure\, applications\, and platforms. It is a collection of procedures
and technologies involving the cloud service providers and the clients th
at use them to address external and internal threats to business security.
\n\nCloud providers host services on their servers through always-on conne
ctions. Since their business relies on customer trust\, cloud security met
hods are used to keep client data private and safely stored. However\, clo
ud security also partially rests in the client's hands as well. Understand
ing both facets is pivotal to a successful cloud security solution.\n\nAt
its core\, cloud security is composed of the following categories:\n\n- In
frastructure security\n- Data security\n- Identity and access management (
IAM)\n- Governance (policies on threat prevention\, detection\, and mitiga
tion)\n- Data retention (DR) and business continuity (BC) planning\n- Lega
l compliance\n\nAs enterprises embrace cloud services and move toward opti
mizing their operational approach\, new challenges arise when balancing pr
oductivity levels and security. While more modern technologies help organi
zations advance capabilities outside the confines of on-premise infrastruc
ture\, transitioning primarily to cloud-based environments can have severa
l implications if not done securely.\n\nStriking the right balance require
s an understanding of how modern-day enterprises can benefit from the use
of interconnected cloud technologies while deploying the best cloud securi
ty practices.\n\nBio data of Speaker: Sri. Chandra Sekhar\,\n\nBrief Bio o
f C Chandrasekhara Reddy\, Scientist-G\, Group Director\, NRSC/ISRO (Retd)
\, received his B. Tech from Nagarjuna University in 1986 in Electronics a
nd Communications Engineering with Distinction and he is class topper. Rec
eived his MS in Software Systems from BITS\, PILANI with distinction in 19
97.Joined SHAR\, ISRO in 1987\, where he designed and developed Software f
or Radars to track all the launch vehicles. Designed and Developed Softwar
e for Health monitoring of Launch Vehicle motors during the Launch. He mov
ed to NRSC in 1993 and worked till Aug\, 2022.He retired as Group Director
\, in Scientist 'G' grade. Established the Campus Network for NRSC\, Balan
agar to provide email and Internet services in 1997 and ensured its 24 x 7
availability.\n\nWorked as Executive Director for Institute of Electronic
Governance (IEG) under Information Technology and Communications Dept. (I
T&C) Govt. of Andhra Pradesh in 2005-2006 on deputation. Implemented multi
faceted e-governance solutions and worked towards self-sustenance of IEG w
hich had a strength of about 800 employees under IT&C Dept. Govt. of AP in
2005-2006.He was Technical Committee Member for Major Projects of IT&C De
pt. Govt. of AP from 2007 to 2009. He was an advisor in CMO and Technical
Committee member for the iris based Ration Card Project from 2007 to 2009.
The successful implementation of this project resulted in savings of arou
nd Rs 1000 crore per annum to the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. As this project
was successful\, the iris technology was adopted in Adhar card project by
Govt. of India.\n\nAs IT Infrastructure focal point\, designed and implem
ented BHUVAN portal\, which was launched in August 2009. Later implemented
Bhuvan Scaleup IT Infrastructure as well. Established 1000 Sq. Mts State
of the Art Data Center at Shadnagar Campus with the centralized tiered Sto
rage Area Network for Integrated Multi Mission Ground Segment for earth Ob
servation Satellites (IMGEOS). Ensured the availability of IT infrastructu
re for all the IRS Satellites launched after 2010 at the IMGEOS Data Cente
r\, enabling supply of Emergency Data Products with in one Hour of Data Ac
quisition. Conceived and conceptualized an Event monitoring and control me
chanism for IMGEOS to monitor the data products generation in the producti
on chain. In the process of adopting latest technologies\, designed and im
plemented on-premise private cloud to process RISAT data and on-premise pu
blic cloud to meet the Infrastructure requirements to disseminate the data
products\, Bhoonodhi etc in the Data Center in 2018. The cloud is being e
xtended to adopt containerisation. The resource optimization has increased
by 50 %\, because of the cloud technology. Contributed in the design and
implementation of IT Infrastructure for the Disaster Management Support Pr
ogramme of Minnistry of Home Affairs\, Govt. of India. Extended the Data C
enter at NRSC/ISRO Shadnagar Campus by another 2000 Sq. Mts. Also involved
in establishing Data Centers for Govt. of AP at Hyderabad\, DRDO and NGRI
. Established cloud based secure thin client remote access system at the O
utreach Facility in Jeedimetla campus for remote sensing data analysis. Co
nceptualized\, proposed and implemented a secure overlay Network for more
than 3000 nodes and provided the services at nine campuses of NRSC. He con
verged services such as mail\, video\, telepresence\, audio and chat\, whi
ch are being provided to the users. Implemented Network based Unified Comm
unications converged services across all the Campuses of NRSC\, which was
used extensively during Covid-19 period. In the process removed all tradit
ional telephone exchanges. As Information Security Officer of NRSC for abo
ut 15 years\, ensured the security of IT Infrastructure and data. As a mem
ber of inter-center IT security committee for ISRO\, participated in the c
ommittee meetings and contributed in providing detailed recommendations\,
guidelines\, operational procedures\, tools and techniques to improve the
IT security in ISRO Centers / Units and implemented in one of the Centres
of ISRO. Implemented Security Operations and Network Operations Center at
Shadnagar for NRSC/ISRO (9 Locations Across India) including SIEM/SOAR. As
a Chairman\, Flight Readiness Review Committee for Real Time Networks\, e
nsuring the readiness of Ground Segment Infrastructure at SHAR for LVM3 (L
aunch Vehicle Mark 3)\, PSLV and SSLV Launches and also Post Flight Analys
is. In his illustrious career\, he has been bestowed with ISRO Team Excell
