DESCRIPTION:Tenaska Westmoreland is a new 980 MW combined-cycle gas fired e
lectric\npower generating station. This state of the art modern generating
station was\ncompleted in late 2018 and is now in operation. The plant si
te is near the community of\nSmithton in Westmoreland County\, Pennsylvani
a. The plant is owned and operated by\nTenaska Pennsylvania Partners\, whi
ch includes the affiliates of Tenaska and Mitsubishi\nCorporation’s subs
idiary\, Diamond Generating Corporation. The ownership is unique\nin that
such a large generating station is neither owned nor operated by an electr
ic\nutility. The plant generates clean energy using locally produced natur
al gas. The\ngenerated power offsets the impact of lost power generation f
rom a number of coal-\nfueled plants in the region\, which have been eithe
r closed or are about to close. A\nnearby newly constructed 500kv Switchya
rd ties generated power to the regional\ntransmission grid.\n\nLight Refre
shments will be provided.\n\nFor questions please contact organizers:\nMar
tin London (Power Engineering Society) mlondon@alumni.scu.edu\nJoe Kalasky
 (Life Members) j.kalasky@verizon.net\n\nSpeaker(s): Robert Mayfield\, \n\
nAgenda: \nDetailed Directions: Locate the Smithton Truck Stop along Inter
state 70 about halfway between Route 51 and New Stanton. Exit to the south
and take an immediate left (east) onto Smithton Pike. Drive two miles eas
t on Smithton Pike. Ignore Construction Detour\, continue to local traffic
. The plant is located on the south side of Smithton Pike. Drive directly
up hill to the Administration Building where plant staff will be expecting
IEEE. IMPORTANT: NO SNEAKERS\, OPEN TOE SHOES\, SANDLES\, HIGH HEELS OR D
RESSES. THE PLANT WILL PROVIDE HARD HATS\, EAR PLUGS\, &amp\; SAFETY GLASS
ES.\n\nIf you are an IEEE member\, you must enter your membership number.
If you would like to receive PDH\, please bring a copy of this announcemen
