DESCRIPTION:The IEEE DEIS Student Branch Chapter at IIT Kanpur\, India orga
 nised a panel discussion on March 7\, 2023\, in the honour of the Internat
 ional Women&#39;s Day celebration. The event was organised in hybrid mode with
  some of our panellists: Dr. C. K. Sahu\, Ms. Atika Srivastava\, Mr. Himan
 shu Gupta and Ms. Pratyasha Das along with the moderator Dr. Nandini Gupta
  present offline at ACES-214\, EE Department\, IIT Kanpur while another pa
 nellist\, Dr. Alok R. Verma was present online through WebEx platform. The
  event had both offline and online participation of around thirty.\n\nThe 
 theme of the panel discussion was “Together Towards Gender Equity” whe
 re the panellists addressed several challenges faced by women in professio
 nal life and the role of men towards gender equity.\n\nDr. Sahu highlighte
 d the urgency of promoting equality and providing equal opportunities to w
 omen\, considering the centuries of unequal treatment they have endured. M
 s. Atika emphasized the importance of incentivizing society to understand 
 the significance of women empowerment beyond just accelerating the process
  of change. Dr. Verma discussed the role of individual efforts and the psy
 chological empowerment of women\, with men contributing to the cause direc
 tly or indirectly through women. Mr. Himanshu highlighted the embedded pat
 riarchal bias in society and the need for proactive measures from institut
 ions to address women&#39;s issues in leadership roles. Ms. Pratyasha touched 
 upon the fine line between equality and equity and expressed the need for 
 awareness programs at the ground level to provide equal opportunities to a
 ll women.\n\nThe moderator\, Dr. Nandini Gupta\, wrapped up the discussion
  within an hour (3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. IST)\, summarizing the views of th
 e panellists on critical questions such as whether women should rely on in
 stitutional support or take it upon themselves\, and how gender equity ben
 efits all stakeholders in the workplace and family\, including men. The di
 scussion was engaging and featured diverse perspectives from the audience
