DESCRIPTION:IEEE MVSR CASS (Circuits and Systems Society) Student Branch Ch
apter in collaboration with Department of Electronics and Communication En
gineering\, MVSREC has organized a two day hands-on workshop on “Design
of Embedded System using Arduino” on 27th March 2023 and 28th March 2023
. The main objective of this workshop was to help the students of 3rd year
engineering understand the basic procedures for working with Arduino and
explore further. It helps them to focus on getting up and running with Ard
uino quickly.\n\nThe morning session of day-1 started by Mrs. S. Aruna\, I
EEE MVSR CASS Student Branch Advisor\, MVSREC\, addressing the gathering a
nd gave a brief information about the schedule that will be followed throu
ghout the course. Then\, Ms. M. Harshitha\, Secretary\, IEEE MVSR CASS\, w
elcomed the resource person to the two day hands-on workshop and gave an i
ntroduction about the speaker for the session.\n\nDAY-1: Introduction to E
mbedded System\n\nAfter the introduction\, Dr. M. Shyamsunder\, came onto
the stage and started the session. The main points that were covered in th
e session were about Embedded System\, applications & scope of Embedded Sy
stem in various industries\, An Overview of Open Hardware\, Arduino board
description\, Microcontroller Programming using Embedded 'C' and Arduino I
DE software installation.\n\nIn the Afternoon session\, Mr. Dr. M. Shyamsu
nder gave a brief explanation about all the basic pre-requisite concepts n
eeded for design of Embedded System using Arduino. In addition to this\, a
n introduction to the Interfacing of I/O devices was given to the students
.\n\nSubsequently\, he gave a detailed explanation about Interfacing and t
he following:\n\n- LED: Types-Working-How LEDs glow in sequence? -Interfac
ing with Arduino\n- Switch: Types-Functions-Interfacing\n- Buzzer: Types-A
pplications-Interfacing\n- Display Devices: Types-Seven Segment Display-In
terfacing-Multiplexing\nDAY-2 Projects\n\nThe second day focused more on A
DC and Serial Communication. The topics are the following:\n\n- ADC: What
is ADC?- Use of ADC-Resolution-Uses of different ADC Registers-Interfacing
\n- Serial Communication: Parallel and Serial communication-USART-RS232 St
andard-TTL converter-UART Programming\n\nIn the afternoon session of Day 2
\, students formed various teams of size 3 members and selected a project
to work on. All the projects were realized on this day under the guidance
of resource person and Mrs. S. Aruna.\n\nThe following are the projects co
vered:\n\n- Blinking LED\n- De-bouncing\n- Counter using Seven Segment\n-
Digital Voltage Measurement\n- PC-MC Communication\n\nFinally\, on the nex
t day all the students submitted their projects and the two day hands-on w
orkshop finished successfully after the certificates were issued to the st
udents in the Valedictory session.\n\nSpeaker(s): Dr. M. Shyam Sunder\, \n
