 hed flyer.\n\nAbstract:\n\nSoftware Defined Open Architecture Modems (SDOA
 Ms) offer features such as flexibility\, extensibility\, in-field configur
 ability to ensure the end user gets the best performance during an operati
 on with the right user experience. In this talk\, I share our experiences 
 and learnings from deployments of our software defined modems for applicat
 ions such as underwater sensors\, marine robotics\, underwater wireless ne
 tworks in some of the most challenging waters of Singapore (tropical\, sha
 llow and warm).\n\nShort Bio:\n\nManu Ignatius is the CEO of Subnero\, a S
 ingapore based company whose vision is to be the de facto standard for und
 erwater communication and in-water sensing networks. Subnero is a spin-off
  company from ARL\, National University of Singapore. Manu was part of the
  research group at ARL that developed the core technologies for underwater
  acoustic communication and networking that are currently available commer
 cially through Subnero. He is also a passionate photographer\, scuba diver
  and loves traveling. He is currently based in London to focus on business
  expansion in the European region.\n\nManu has more than a decade of exper
 ience in the technology industry with a focus on research and development 
 in the field of computer communication networks and embedded systems. Prio
 r to joining Subnero\, Manu has worked at various wireless networking tech
 nology companies to bring various products to market. He has a Master of S
 cience degree in Electrical Engineering (Major in Computer Engineering) fr
