DESCRIPTION:As part of the [UWIN-LABUST project](https://uwin-labust.fer.hr
/)\, the Laboratory for Underwater Systems and Technologies in collaborati
on with the [IEEE Croatia Section - Robotics and Automation Chapter](https
://www.ieee.hr/ieeesection/odjeli_chapteri/ra24)\, the [IEEE OES Universit
y of Zagreb Student Branch Chapter](https://www.facebook.com/ieeeoesunizg/
) and [IEEE Life Member Affinity Group - Croatia](https://www.ieee.hr/ieee
section/lm) is happy to invite you to the lecture\n\n"Technologies for und
erwater surveying: Workflow for 3D reconstruction of UCH sites"\n\nheld by
Engr. Umberto Severino - Ph.D. student\, Department of Mechanical\, Energ
etic and Management Engineering (DIMEG)\, University of Calabria\, Arcavac
ata di Rende\, Italy. The lecture will take place on Friday\, July 14th\,
2023 at 10:00 in the LABUST pool laboratory\, Martinovka building\, Facult
y of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER). The lecture is in English
.\n\nThe lecturer’s CV and the summary of the lecture can be found below
.\n\nAbstract:\n\nAfter a brief practical introduction to technologies for
underwater surveying\, the workshop will cover the typical workflow for r
econstructing a three-dimensional scene in the context of Underwater Cultu
ral Heritage (UCH) sites. In particular\, the focus will be on passive opt
ical technologies and the image filtering process for structure-from-motio
n (SfM) reconstruction preparation. During the workshop\, the procedure wi
ll be demonstrated on Adobe Camera Raw and Agisoft Metashape software. The
seminar+workshop is a Knowledge Transfer Activity (KTA) planned within th
e H2020 MSCA - Tectonic project to facilitate knowledge transfer and shari
ng between the partners.\n\nBrief bio:\n\nUmberto Severino is a Ph.D. stud
ent in Industrial and Civil Engineering (DICI) at the University of Calabr
ia (Italy). He graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 2018 at DIMEG\, Univ
ersity of Calabria\, and was licensed as a senior industrial engineer in 2
019. He has collaborated with various spin-offs of the University of Calab
ria\, including 3D Research s.r.l. and Applicon s.r.l.. Currently\, he is
involved in the H2020 MSCA - Tectonic project\, conducting research activi
ties on VO/SLAM algorithms applied to ROV navigation at H2O Robotics Ltd.
in Zagreb. His research interests encompass computer vision\, artificial i
ntelligence\, underwater acoustic localization\, and mechanical design of
underwater devices\, and he recently filed a patent as a co-inventor with
Leonardo S.p.A.\n\nSpeaker(s): Umberto Severino\n\nRoom: Labust\, Bldg: Ma
