DESCRIPTION:Flexible integration of an ever-growing penetration of ubiquito
us renewable generations (e.g.\, solar\, hydro\, offshore wind\, and hydro
gen)\, energy storage systems\, hybrid units (e.g.\, solar+storage)\, and
electrified & intelligent transportation (i.e.\, eMobility) brings challen
ges to utilize multi-scale information and heterogeneous capability for ef
ficient and resilient control of power grids\, especially under expected e
vents. In the existing paradigm\, ancillary services\, such as frequency r
egulations and multi-time-scale reserves\, are being operated as a resourc
e planning problem through (day-ahead) energy-ancillary service co-optimiz
ation. Recent nationwide blackout events showed that\, although billions o
f dollars spent annually on ancillary services\, the existing scheme remai
n ineffective and insufficient.\n\nIn this talk\, we will first present di
saggregation and aggregation models for ubiquitous information in power gr
ids and then discuss real-world challenges in aggregating distributed flex
ibilities\, which have yet to be fully addressed in literature. Finally\,
we will present results on information and capability disaggregation among
DERs\, aggregators\, and system operators to achieve optimal system perfo
rmances and resiliency against variances in information freshness and netw
ork anomaly.\n\nSpeaker(s): Liang Du\n\nAgenda: \n- Talk by Dr. Liang Du a
