DESCRIPTION:We firmly believe in the necessity of educating Jordanian schoo
l girls about various engineering disciplines and encouraging them to pros
per in such fields as well as broadening their understanding of engineerin
g and connecting it to the real world\, our WIE affinity group at Yarmouk
University had a successful visit to the Yarmouk Model School in Irbid\, w
here we delivered a detailed lecture to tenth-grade and junior school girl
s\, in which we covered the following:\n\n* Introduction to the Institute
of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.\n\n* Introduction to the Women in
Engineering community.\n\n*An overview of engineering and its various spe
cialties and fields.\n\n* A practical experiment presentation from the fie
ld of Electronics Engineering\, where the girls were allowed to experience
hands-on work with basic electronic components.\n\nDr. Yusra Obeidat \, t
he WIE-YU supervisor and the Chair of the WIE-Jordan \, inaugurated the le
cture and introduced the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
and the Women in Engineering community. She emphasized the importance of
the Women in Engineering community in shaping women's personalities to bei
ng STEM students and working in it. She also stressed the need to engage w
ith the community and the world\, expanding local and global knowledge net
works\, and provided motivational statements for the schoolgirls to choose
suitable engineering specialties in the future and believe in their abili
ty to study engineering disciplines that open doors to creativity\, excell
ence\, and innovation.\n\nStudent Shatha Badarneh from the Biomedical Engi
neering department spoke about engineering in general from a student's per
spective and the essential skills that engineering students should possess
for success in their field. ‏Then\, a group of students discussed vario
us engineering specialties and their importance in different fields of wor
k. Student Lin Al-Zuhd talked about the field of bioInformatics Engineerin
g\, student Baraa Al-Sukhni discussed the field of Biomedical System Engin
eering\, student Rama Shobash spoke about Electronics Engineering\, while
students Sanabel Abudiak and Aya Asfour talked about Computer Engineering.
Finally\, student Hala Azaizeh discussed the field of Industrial Engineer
ing.\n\nThe interactive lecture concluded with questions from the schoolgi
rls about engineering\, its different specialties\, and opportunities for
advancement and work in these fields.\n\n‏In conclusion\, we would like
to thank the administration of the Model School\, represented by the schoo
l's principal\, Sanaa Lababneh\, and the academic counselor\, Maisoun Jara
dat\, for their cooperation in coordinating and successfully conducting th
is event. We also extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the
success of this activity. ‏Stay tuned for more special events from our c
ommunity that will shape goals and leave a lasting impact.\n\nCo-sponsored
