DESCRIPTION:IEEE Power and Energy Society AUST Student Branch Chapter is go
ing to organise it’s flagship event series Power Talk 4.0 in collaborati
on with Dept. of EEE and IEEE AUST Student Branch. The event will focus on
two significant topics: The Overview of National Load Dispatch Center (NLD
C) Bangladesh & The Usage of Unmanned Aerial Systems in Power Utilities of
Bangladesh- Technologies\, Challenges and Use-cases.\n\nThe NLDC is respo
nsible for real-time monitoring\, control\, and coordination of Bangladesh
's power system. Its key objective is to ensure balanced power generation
and consumption\, maintain system stability\, and prevent grid disruptions
. Through data collection and analysis\, the NLDC optimises power dispatch
and employs advanced technologies for real-time monitoring. It manages po
wer generation schedules\, coordinates with stakeholders\, and plays a cru
cial role in upholding grid reliability. Moreover\, the NLDC serves as a h
ub for information exchange and coordination among power sector stakeholde
rs\, acting as a vital backbone of Bangladesh's power sector to meet the n
ation's growing energy demands.\n\nIn parallel\, the seminar will explore
the usage of UAS in the power utilities of Bangladesh\, offering valuable
benefits and opportunities. Drones equipped with advanced sensors and imag
ing capabilities are extensively used for infrastructure inspection\, main
tenance\, and monitoring in the power sector. These UAS enable efficient a
ssessment of equipment condition\, issue identification\, and enhanced wor
ker safety. However\, challenges surrounding aviation regulations\, data s
ecurity\, and airspace management must be addressed. Overall\, UAS technol
ogy holds significant potential to enhance operational efficiency\, reduce
costs\, and ensure a reliable power supply throughout Bangladesh.\n\nThe
upcoming session will offer a comprehensive understanding and insights int
o the critical role of the NLDC in ensuring a reliable power supply and th
e significant potential of UAS technology in enhancing operational efficie
ncy and cost-effectiveness in power utilities.\n\n- - - - - - - - - - - -
