DESCRIPTION:Sensors are a very essential component of any electronics proje
ct. In this world of increased automation\, the knowledge about sensors is
very crucial. In this regard\, the IEEE BIT SB conducted a 3-day hands-on
workshop about – “Sensors and their applications”.\nThe speaker Dr.
Kendaganna Swamy S along with his associate Dr.Rajshree P successfully ed
ucated the students about the various basic and essential sensors and thei
r usage with the help on an Arduino Uno circuit board.\n\nDAY-1:\n\nThe be
ginning of the workshop was marked by an inaugural function in the presenc
e of the principle\, vice principle\, HODs of department of ECE and VDT an
d IEEE BIT SB Counselor.\nInitially the participants were introduced to th
e simulation method of using the Arduino with the help of TinkerCad websit
 e. In the second session they were introduced to the basic components invo
lved in the usage of the Arduino Uno\, namely: data cables\, jumper wired\
, bread boards and so on. They were also taught about the various parts of
an Arduino.\nThe participants constructed a few basic circuits involving
LEDs.\n\nDAY-2:\n\nThe participants were introduced to Ultrasonic sensors\
, IR sensors\, buzzers and servo motors. They were also introduced to the
applications. Ultrasonic sensors are mostly used outdoors and IR sensors a
re used indoors.\nThey were also introduced to how a combination of the se
nsors and servo motors are used in automatic dustbins\, how IR sensors are
used for automatic hand dryers and many more.\nThey were also introduced
to LCD displays.\n\nDAY-3:\n\nOn the last day of the workshop\, participan
ts were introduced to more sensors like smoke sensors\, door sensors and s
o on. They were further educated about servo modules and DC motors.\nThe s
peaker also informed the students about further internship opportunities a
nd also gave a foray into the journey of a project until it becomes a prod
uct.\nThe event was successfully concluded with a valedictory function in
the presence of vice principle\, HODs of department of ECE and VDT and IEE
E BIT SB Counselor.\nThe speaker was also awarded with a token of apprecia
tion.\n\nBangalore Institute Of Technology\, Department Of Electronics And
