DESCRIPTION:Power electronic converters are "hidden heroes" in numerous mod
ern energy systems\, such as wind\nturbines\, Photovoltaics (PV)\, Power-t
o-X\, electric vehicles\, data centers\, mobile phones\, and smart homes.\
nIn contrast to CPUs/GPUs that process digitalized information\, power ele
ctronic converters process\nelectrical energy by efficiently converting vo
ltage\, current\, or frequency. They are ubiquitous in electricity\ngenera
tion\, transmission\, distribution\, and consumption\, forming a critical
part of the infrastructure for the\ngreen transition. Artificial Intellige
nce (AI) is increasingly solving optimization\, regression\, and classific
ation\nproblems within the energy sector\, where deep electrification and
digitalization intersect. This presentation\nfocuses on the application of
AI in the design\, control\, and condition monitoring of power electronic
\ncomponents and converters. Specifically\, it covers the following aspect
s: 1) a brief introduction to power\nelectronics and its pivotal role in m
odern energy systems\; 2) an overview of AI research spanning from the\n19
90s to the present day\, focusing on diverse power electronics application
s\; 3) discussions on the unique\nchallenges faced when applying AI to pow
