DESCRIPTION:IEEE Estonia IES/PELS/IAS/PES Joint Chapter\, Department of Ele
ctrical Power Engineering and Mechatronics and Infineon Technologies Austr
ia AG invites you to IPCEI on Microelectronics and Communication Technolog
ies STEM Workshop:\n\nNext Generation of EV Chargers\n\nThe workshop is le
d by Infineon Technologies Austria AG and will delve into the challenges f
aced and the innovative solutions developed. The accelerated growth of ele
ctric vehicles (EVs) and increasing demand for faster charging requires re
search and development of power electronic converters to achieve higher po
wer levels\, higher efficiencies and more compact EV on-board charging (OB
 C) solutions.\n\nThe original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are requiring
a volume and weight decrease of the OBCs in order to be able to free up s
pace for their components and to reduce the weight of the vehicles. The st
ate-of-the-art power density for OBCs with Silicon devices is around 2 kW/
 L. Utilizing wide bandgap (WBG) devices\, the goal is to reach more than 6
  kW/L\, i.e.\, a factor of 3 improvement.\n\nIn this presentation\, the im
pact of GaN devices on on-board chargers will be analyzed by means of a br
ief technology discussion\, detailed topology review and hardware implemen
tation examples for wide battery voltage range EV applications. The worksh
op will provide an interactive platform to connect participants from the w
orlds of industry\, research\, and education and Infineon to explore futur
e collaboration opportunities to tackle remaining challenges in the field
of microelectronics.\n\nVenue: Innovation Hub\, TalTech Innovation and Bus
 iness Center Mektory\, Raja 15\, 12616 Tallinn\, Estonia\n\nCo-sponsored b
